Narrating Documentary Now's Season Premiere "Soldier of Illusion" October 19!

I’ve been lucky enough to be in all four seasons of “Documentary Now,” the amazing anthology series produced by Seth Meyers, Bill Hader, and Fred Armisen, and directed by Alex Buono and Rhys Thomas. Each episode parodies a different documentary.

On October 19, their newest season will premiere with their two-episode take on “Burden of Dreams,” the documentary about director Werner Herzog making “Fitzcarraldo.” The hilarious new spoof is called “Soldier of Illusion,” stars Alexander Skarsgard, Nicholas Braun, and Fred Armisen, and was written by John Mulaney.

If you’ve seen “Burden of Dreams” you’ll have heard a very distinctive female narrator, Candace Laughlin. If you watch “Soldier of Illusion,” you’ll hear my narration take on her brilliant delivery.

Check out IFC and AMC+ starting October 19 for the newest installments of the always amazing “Documentary Now!” Here’s the trailer for the season (which will also include Cate Blanchett and a wild take on “My Octopus Teacher”!):

Reading of "The Escape Thingy" at SDS Festival of New Plays Sept 22 & 23!

So thrilled to be included in the inaugural Festival of New Plays at South Dakota State University! My play “The Escape Thingy” will have two reading performances: Sept 22 and 23.

The festival “celebrates the work of emerging playwrights while offering opportunities for students and the audience to engage in the development of new works.” I’m honored to be included alongside playwrights Caridad Svich, Amy Tofte, and Kristen Benjamin.

In “The Escape Thingy,” two very different couples meet in an "Escape Room" game night, each needing very different types of escape. The clock is literally ticking as they attempt to solve the puzzles, decide what reality to believe, and weigh the risks of unlocking the door to the dangerous world outside.

Can’t wait to visit Brookings and work with the director and cast there! For more info, click here.

Sunday March 6: "Shining Vale" with Courteney Cox!

Look for me in the new Starz horror/comedy “Shining Vale” starring Courteney Cox! It’s a very funny script from creator/writers Jeff Astrof and Sharon Horgan. The show premieres Sunday March 6, and I’ll be in Episode 2 (also airing that night). Here’s a screengrab from the trailer, of me sitting with the talented Sherilyn Fenn, Eva La Dare, and Beth Curry (Courteney’s back is to the camera here). Check it out on Starz!

New Recording of "The Poppyseed Bread (Made a Hole in the Ground)" Song!

With amazing percussion from Jonathan Feinberg and recording production artistry from Raffi at AF Records, please enjoy the new recording of a song I wrote many years ago, “The Poppyseed Bread (Made a Hole in the Ground).” It will take literally two minutes.

It was so fun to pull these harmonies together for this silliness. And who doesn’t need a bit of silliness right about now?

(Also available on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, etc.) Please share!
